Shiva Temple Aarti Maha Kumbh 2025 Bengaluru Techie Suicide Kolkata Supply Of Water Nikita Singhania Govt alerts versus consuming jatropha fruits!.?.!Pearl.DSouza@timesofindia.com/ Dec 4, 2024, 23:53 IST Share AA + Text Size Small Medium Large Follow us Bengaluru: After a group of 5 women and eight children were hospitalised from eating Jatropha curcas seeds in Chamarajanagar district recently, the food safety commissionerate has warned about the possibility of public health being impacted due to consumption of dangerous fruits.Commissioner of food safety, Srinivas K, said while all parts of jatropha plants are dangerous, the seeds include a high concentration of ricin and are more harmful."The unfavorable impacts after consuming the seeds are vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain and a burning feeling in the throat.
Vomiting and diarrhoea happen within fifteen minutes of usage. Also, considering that the seeds have an enjoyable taste, there is a possibility of a higher effect on the health of children, "Srinivas cautioned about the evergreen tropical plant with thin stems.Thirteen members of Banjara (nomadic) community who were hospitalised at Kollegal taluk health center in Chamarajanagar were released in a day. One kid with intellectual specials needs was kept in observation before being released, district health officer, Chamarajanagar, Chidambara S told TOI.He stated
members of the community remained in Kollegal for sugarcane-cutting work.
