Bio-diesel made from food in
oil-rich UAEClose
The
Middle East is a region where automobile is king and fuel is low-cost, typically leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have actually risen the price of oil, the problem of finding alternative
sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In a region that has among the highest carbon footprints in the world, one business is making the most of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's set up the
Middle East's very first scheme to
recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving rewarding too, already their
client-list consists of McDonald's.
